Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate Questions Raised Over Stationery Spending in Stalled Projects

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate faces scrutiny over its handling of stationery expenses in two stalled projects initiated during the previous PTI administration.

Documents obtained by relevant authorities reveal purchases of office supplies totaling over Rs . 2 lakhs across a three-month period in 2023 for the "1000 Sports Facilities" project. These purchases, detailed as follows, raise concerns:

August 15, 2023: Rs. 60,278

November 23, 2023: Rs. 62,142

December 19, 2023: Rs. 73,849

Adding to the confusion, a separate project – the "Union Council" project – also saw a significant stationery purchase of Rs. 1.84 lakhs on January 19, 2024. Notably, both projects are reportedly stalled due to a lack of funds, with many contractors remaining unpaid.

The fact that substantial stationery purchases were made in projects lacking active work raises questions about resource allocation and spending priorities within the Sports Directorate.  Furthermore, the use of the same office for both projects warrants further investigation.
