Inquiry Report Disappears: Allegations of Mismanagement in DI Khan Sports Directorate Silenced

Peshawar ,  The inquiry report concerning the former Regional Sports Officer (RSO) in DI Khan has mysteriously vanished after reaching the office of the Secretary of Sports. Sources within the sports directorate reveal that the report detailed several serious issues, including the absence of class four employees from duty and a lack of coordination between the regional and district sports officers.

Additionally, the report highlighted vacancies in the District Sports Office (DSO), with routine absenteeism among concerned individuals. The inquiry team noted that over three lakh rupees were transferred by the RSO to associations without proper authorization, leading to unapproved expenses. Issues in the withdrawal of money for expenses, discrepancies in cash handling, and anomalies in bank statements were also documented.

The report further criticized the allocation of funds to various sports associations, including the Taekwondo and Cricket Associations, without due process, and noted irregularities in the payment of High Court fees. The committee also flagged the poor condition of sports grounds, the deteriorating wooden floor of the squash court, and the RSO’s unauthorized travel abroad for Hajj.

In its recommendations, the three-member committee called for further investigation against the RSO, action against those involved in financial irregularities, and the separation of RSO and DSO offices to avoid administrative conflicts.

It also suggested a technical review of tartan tracks and other non-standard items by a separate committee, and emphasized the need for water supply to the grounds damaged by target shooting activities.

Despite being submitted in February and brought to the Secretary of Sports’ attention, the report has been buried, allegedly due to the political involvement with the implicated officer. This officer, who has a close relationship with the political leader from DIKHAN, particularly through shared interests in horse riding, tent pegging appears to be shielded from accountability.
