Coaches Fume as Sports Directorate Appointments Allegedly Favor Political Connections over Merit

Discontent simmers among coaches in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the provincial Sports Directorate faces accusations of nepotism and favoritism in recent appointments. Sources claim that 44 coaches were selected – 10 fewer than the expected 54 – without proper interviews or document verification.

These appointments allegedly bypassed qualified coaches with experience, favoring individuals with political connections or deemed "likeable" by senior officials. Frustrated coaches, some of whom previously worked on daily wages at sports complexes, are reportedly considering legal action against this perceived unfairness.

The controversy extends beyond Peshawar, with coaches in other districts expressing concerns about a lack of transparency in their own appointments. They are considering a collective challenge to the alleged politicized selection process.

The Sports Directorate has yet to publicly address these allegations.
