Salaries Flow Like Water at Closed Sports Facility Project

A shocking report reveals that a massive sports facility project in Pakistan, closed for two years due to lack of funds, continues to incur expenses, particularly hefty salaries for project staff. In January 2024 alone, over eight lakh rupees (PKR 891,988) were claimed in salaries, raising serious concerns about financial mismanagement.

While details are unclear, the project director received a staggering PKR 344,585 in salary, despite the project's closure. Additionally, ten other staff members were paid varying amounts, with some receiving less than the minimum wage set by the Labor Department.

This news exposes a potential misuse of public funds. A closed project should not be accumulating such high expenses, especially when salaries exceed minimum wage requirements for some employees.
