Provincial Sports Directorate Fails to Maintain 1000 Sports Project
The provincial sports directorate has allowed the deterioration
of the open-air gym within the 1000 sports project, adjacent to the Muazullah
Khan Cricket Academy. The contractor responsible for the football field and
tartan track has neglected maintenance for three months, rendering the gym
machines unusable. Despite the passage of time, neither the contractor nor
project management has taken steps to rectify the situation, leaving the gym
and climbing facilities, named after Ali Sadpara, in disarray.
The neglect extends beyond just the gym equipment. The
climbing wall's side walls are broken, and plans for its reconstruction remain
unfulfilled. Additionally, essential safety features like anchors on the
climbing wall have vanished without any intervention from the provincial sports
directorate.
The repercussions of this neglect are evident. The
once-prestigious cricket academy now suffers due to adjacent disrepair, with
increased foot traffic exacerbating the situation. Many of the gym machines lie
dormant, further adding to the decline.
This mismanagement occurs under the supervision of the engineering wing overseen by the Provincial Secretary of Sports, despite the project's substantial cost exceeding fifty crore rupees. It's a glaring example of governmental negligence undermining community resources and athletic opportunities.
