Arbab Niaz Stadium Lights Installation Delayed Due to Price Hike, New Action Plan Expected

PESHAWAR - The installation of lights at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium remains unresolved after four years of silence. The issue? A surge in international market prices for the originally chosen, specific-design lights. This has led to additional installation costs in the crores (tens of millions) to meet ICC standards.

Sources report that the project was initially planned with a specific style of lights, but details were not released. Additionally, a previous proposal by the former DG Sports to outsource the project was withdrawn.

Currently, the estimated cost for ICC-standard lights, including taxes, is around seventy crores, which the provincial government is struggling to afford.  However, there is hope.  Following the Umrah and Eid holidays, the new Sports Advisor for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to announce a clear action plan to address the lighting issue.
