Charsadda Women Athletes Demand Action Against DSO for Fraudulent Signatures and Discrimination
Women athletes in
Charsadda accuse DSO of taking fake signatures, withholding daily allowances,
and discriminatory treatment.
Several women athletes
who participated in a Spring Festival event at the Abdul Wali Khan Sports
Complex in Charsadda have come forward with allegations of discrimination and
misconduct against the District Sports Officer (DSO), Imran Khan.
The athletes claim that
they were asked to sign documents under false pretenses, promising daily
allowances and refreshments that were never provided. They further allege that
the trophies awarded to female players were of poor quality, unlike those given
to male participants.
Adding insult to injury,
the event allegedly coincided with International Women's Day, highlighting the
perceived disregard for female athletes in the district.
The athletes are
demanding action from the Minister of Sports, Secretary Sports, and DG Sports
against DSO Khan for his alleged misconduct. They believe his actions
discourage female participation in sports and hinder the development of talent
in Charsadda.
DSO Imran Khan Refutes
Allegations
DSO Khan maintains that
the event was originally planned for January but postponed due to elections. He
claims he lacked the budget to include women players in the revised program.
However, Shabana Khattak
of Khan University, who officiated at the competition, reportedly contradicts
Khan's statement.
The athletes' allegations
and the DSO's defense paint a conflicting picture. A thorough investigation is needed to ensure
fair treatment for all athletes in Charsadda, regardless of gender.
