Shaheen Lady Health Workers Set Deadline for Demands, Threaten Protests
Shaheen
Lady Health Workers (LHWs) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have issued a deadline of
March 28th for the newly elected provincial government to address their demands
for service structure, upgradation, and regularization.
The
announcement came following a meeting held under the chairmanship of Aurangzeb
Kashmiri, Central Secretary General of the All Pakistan Clerks Association
(APCA), at his residence. The meeting included provincial representatives of
Shaheen Lady Health Workers, including Akhtar Bibi (President), Shaista Farooq
(Chief Organizer), Ishrat Malik (General Secretary), and others.
Speakers
at the meeting emphasized the crucial role LHWs play in public health,
particularly during outbreaks, natural disasters, and national campaigns. They
criticized the disregard for their demands regarding career progression and
fair compensation, despite their dedication and service.
The
LHWs have set a deadline of March 28th for the government to approve their
demands. They warned of resorting to "forced protests" if their
concerns are not addressed, similar to the inaction they faced from previous
administrations.
Specific
Demands:
Issuance
of a notification for a service structure
Upgradation
of LHW positions
Regularization
of LHW employment
Compensation
for election security duty
Release
of outstanding salaries
Leadership
Appointments:
The
meeting also saw the unanimous appointment of Aurangzeb Kashmiri as the legal
advisor and Yasmin Bibi as the vice president of Abbottabad for Shaheen Lady
Health Workers Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The
LHWs' initiative highlights critical issues faced by healthcare workers and
their demands for fair treatment and recognition. The newly elected government
has until March 28th to demonstrate its commitment to addressing these concerns
and preventing potential protests.
