Landlords Dominate New National Assembly, Business and Politics Key Income Sources

 

 

The composition of the new National Assembly reveals a significant presence of landlords, comprising a substantial majority among the freshly elected members. Out of the 265 newly elected representatives, 112 hail from the landlord sector, according to findings by the Geo-Election Cell.

Business emerges as another prominent source of income for successful candidates, with 83 attributing their livelihood to entrepreneurial ventures. Remarkably, 20 members solely rely on politics for their income.

The diversity of expertise within the assembly is notable, with 16 lawyers, 7 doctors, 4 engineers, and 4 scholars among the elected members. Additionally, 3 members are affiliated with teaching and learning, showcasing a varied professional background.

Educational attainment among the assembly members is considerable, with a majority holding graduate degrees. Specifically, 112 members boast undergraduate qualifications, followed by 63 with master's degrees. Moreover, 42 members hold LLB degrees, and 3 possess LLM qualifications.

Further delineating the educational landscape, 10 members are MBBS doctors, 3 are engineers, and 4 hold PhDs. Additionally, 2 members have attained M.Phil degrees. Notably, there are 12 intermediate-educated and 9 matric-educated representatives in the assembly, reflecting a spectrum of educational backgrounds.
