Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Women Footsallers Denied Prize Money for Over a Year, Organizers Suspected of Misappropriation
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women's footsall team, who emerged
victorious in the national competitions last year, are still waiting to receive
the prize money of Rs. 3 lakh announced by the sports directorate. While the
organizers claim the issue has been settled, the players remain in limbo,
facing continued delays and uncertainty.
Sources close to the team revealed that the prize money,
initially promised from a local Peshawar college, has not been disbursed for
over a year and a half. The players, many of whom are college students
themselves, have been repeatedly strung along with empty promises by the
organizers.
Alarmingly, further reports suggest that a few journalists
involved in the competitions might be behind the missing funds. According to
some players, these individuals allegedly received the money from the sports
directorate under false pretenses but never forwarded it to the team. These
allegations, though unconfirmed, cast a dark shadow over the prize money's
whereabouts and raise serious questions about transparency within the
organizing committee.
Despite repeated inquiries, the relevant officials remain
elusive, reportedly stationed in Rawalpindi with no clear answers regarding the
prize money's status. This lack of communication and accountability only
deepens the frustration and disappointment felt by the players, who were
rightfully expecting recognition and reward for their achievements.
The delayed prize money not only affects the players' morale but also undermines their trust in the system. Swift action and a thorough investigation are necessary to uncover the truth behind the missing funds and ensure those responsible are held accountable. Only then can the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women's footsall team receive the recognition and financial support they deserve.
