Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate Burning Trash, Polluting Air and Hampering Players

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate is facing harsh criticism for its continuous practice of burning waste on the grounds of the complex, leading to air pollution and creating a nuisance for athletes. Despite complaints, the directorate has failed to implement a proper waste disposal system.

Instead of proper waste management, the directorate's financial staff collects garbage from residential quarters within the complex, including plastic containers, bottles, used milk cartons, and even discarded water pumps.

This accumulated waste is then dumped inside the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium and burned every Friday, releasing harmful pollutants into the air.

This practice not only creates environmental hazards but also negatively impacts hockey players who have to endure the unpleasant smell during training and matches.

Previous attempts to address the issue, such as discussions with the Peshawar Cantonment Board for waste disposal outside the complex, have yielded no concrete results.
