Foul Play! Raw Sewage Plagues Provincial Sports Directorate for 8 Months
For
eight long months, a sewage nightmare has plagued the Provincial Sports
Directorate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, turning the area into an obstacle course for
athletes and everyday citizens alike.
Leaking sewage lines from two
bathrooms spew foul-smelling water onto the main walkway, creating a hazard for
anyone passing through.
The
administrator of the Peshawar Sports Complex, Jafar Shah, acknowledges the
issue, claiming to have contacted the engineering wing for repairs. However,
promises remain unfulfilled, leaving the sewage to stagnate and contaminate the
air.
Adding to the misery, the leaking water not only poses
a hygiene risk but also damages clothes and prayer garments. Cricket and
athletics academy players using the walkway for training are particularly
affected, forced to navigate the unsanitary conditions.
Despite having a dedicated
engineering wing for construction projects, the Provincial Sports Directorate
seems powerless to fix the problem under its own nose. The lack of action casts
a shadow on the organization's commitment to hygiene and athlete safety.
