Talented Boxer Farzan Shah, Despite Winning Gold, Awaits Promised Scholarship from Provincial Sports Directorate

Farzan Shah, a skilled boxer hailing from Peshawar, has faced numerous challenges on his journey to success. Despite overcoming family reservations about pursuing boxing, he emerged victorious in various district and provincial competitions, earning accolades for both himself and his family.

Under the guidance of Coach Najmullah Safi at the Rehmat Martial Arts Academy in Peshawar, Farzan Shah's dedication to Chinese martial arts, including Wushu and Kongo, coupled with his passion for boxing, propelled him to success. His achievements led to inclusion in the Peshawar Region team for the Under-21 Games organized by the Provincial Sports Directorate, where he clinched a gold medal.

Despite his triumphs, Farzan Shah, belonging to a middle-class background and being the eldest of three siblings, faces a challenge in realizing his dreams. While he received approval from his family, including his initially hesitant father, he now confronts the delay in the scholarship promised by the provincial sports directorate for his Under-21 Games victory.

Expressing gratitude for the support received from family, teachers, and the local community, Farzan Shah emphasizes the crucial role played by his academy coach, Najam Lilla, in shaping his success. Despite being a student of FSC, juggling daily academy visits for boxing training with his academic pursuits, Farzan remains committed to his passion.

Regrettably, the promised scholarship from the provincial sports directorate has not materialized even after more than two years. Farzan Shah expresses hope that the government's continued support for athletes like him will not only brighten the sports scene in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also elevate Pakistan's standing on the national and international stage.

In his plea for timely recognition and support, Farzan Shah underscores the potential of athletes to bring glory to their region and country if provided with the necessary resources and encouragement. The delay in fulfilling commitments, such as scholarships, not only affects individual athletes like Farzan but also poses a hindrance to the broader goal of promoting sports excellence in the region. It is a call to action for authorities to uphold their promises and invest in the future of promising athletes.
