Sports Officials Express Concern Over Unauthorized Construction Near Women's Hostel
Peshawar , The construction of a new residential quarter near the women's hostel at the Peshawar Sports Complex has raised eyebrows among sports circles, prompting a call for intervention from Secretary Sports.
A clerk, stationed at the Provincial Sports Directorate, has independently undertaken the construction of a residential quarter at his own expense. Surprisingly, the Administrator of Peshawar Sports Complex, Jafar Shah, remains unaware of this development.
The residential quarter, spanning approximately three marlas,
is being erected outside the back gate of the hostel. The construction involves
the procurement of bricks and materials from external sources, a practice
initiated without formal approval.
It has come to light that the former Director General Sports,
Khalid Mehmood, had granted informal approval for the construction of
residential quarters without a formal map or documented consent. This
revelation has left many employees of the Provincial Sports Directorate both
shocked and concerned.
The move has sparked fears among the sports community that this unauthorized construction may transform Peshawar Sports Complex into a de facto residential colony, especially following the transfer of DG Sports Khalid Mehmood to PDA.
Despite the potential implications, no official notice has been taken of these illicitly constructed quarters, leaving employees and sports enthusiasts anxious for a resolution.
