Sports Directorate KP Withholds Contractors' Security Deposits for Over a Year, Raising Concerns
Contractors
working with the Sports Directorate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing concerns
over the non-payment of their security deposits for over a year. Despite the
approval of PC4 (Project Clearance Committee 4), contractors haven't received
their security deposits back, causing financial hardship and worry.
Sources
within the department, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the issue.
They revealed that despite submitting the required security deposits,
contractors haven't received their money back for more than 12 months. This
raises serious questions about the Directorate's financial practices and
adherence to contractual obligations.
Adding
to the frustration, some officials are allegedly admitting to spending the
deposited security money for other purposes, a clear violation of financial
regulations. This lack of transparency and accountability further exacerbates
the contractors' anxieties.
The
non-payment of security deposits significantly impacts small and medium-sized
contractors, often hindering their ability to bid for future projects. This
situation creates an unfair playing field and discourages participation in the
directorate's projects.
The
relevant authorities must investigate this matter urgently and ensure the
immediate return of all outstanding security deposits to the affected
contractors. Transparency and accountability in the utilization of public funds
are crucial for maintaining trust and promoting ethical practices within the
Sports Directorate.
