Security Breach at Mazullah Khan Cricket Academy Raises Concerns for Athlete Safety
In
a concerning development, the protective nets surrounding the four walls of the
renowned Mazullah Khan Cricket Academy, nestled within the Peshawar Sports
Complex, have been tampered with.
Specifically
designed for the security of the academy, the barbed wires, intended to
safeguard the facility, have fallen victim to unauthorized cutting. Certain
sections of the security netting have been completely severed, posing a
potential threat to the safety and well-being of those utilizing the academy.
The
barbed nets were strategically installed on all four sides of the Mazullah Khan
Cricket Academy to serve a vital purpose—preventing cricket balls from escaping
the practice area during training sessions.
Disturbingly,
the breach has gone unnoticed thus far, raising concerns about the security
protocols in place at the academy. Despite the ongoing activities at the
academy, with over four hundred children engaging in daily cricket practice,
the compromised security has not been addressed.
This
incident comes at a time when the academy has gained prominence, attracting
both local and international cricketers, including the likes of Rizwan, Haris,
and Fazal Akbar. The academy, managed by the Provincial Sports Directorate, is
an integral part of the Peshawar Sports Complex, symbolizing a hub for cricket
development in the region.
