Pakistan Shines at the 7th South Asian Cadet Junior Under-21 and Senior Karate Championship in Kathmandu

 

Pakistani athletes displayed exceptional skill and determination at the recently concluded 7th South Asian Cadet Junior Under-21 and Senior Karate Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal, securing a total of two gold, one silver, and 24 bronze medals.

In a thrilling match, Dekar emerged victorious, clinching the gold medal in the -66 kg category. Arzoo, demonstrating outstanding prowess, also claimed a gold medal by defeating a Nepali athlete. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Sansini Mohammad Jahangir, the President of the Pakistan Karate Federation, who honored the occasion as the chief guest.

The Pakistan Karate team achieved remarkable success across various categories. Laiba Zia seized the gold in the 50 kg category and added a bronze in both under-21 and under-21 kata events. Arzoo continued to shine, earning gold in the 66 kg junior category and bronze in both team kata events for seniors and juniors. Ferishta secured bronze in Individual Kata, Team Kata, 55kg Senior, and Team Fight.

Magal showcased a commendable performance, winning Team Kata Senior, 61kg Senior, and adding a bronze in Team Fight. Fatima contributed to the team's success with victories in Team Kata Senior and a bronze in Team Kata Junior. Anahita Fatima impressed with a win in Individual Kata Cadet and a bronze in Team Kata Junior.

Notably, Nazia Ali, representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, earned well-deserved bronze medals in the 68 kg senior category and team fight.

The management and officiating team played a crucial role in the success of the Pakistani contingent, with Shah Faisal from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa serving as the manager, and Muhammad Anwar and Quratul Ain officiating as referees. Naseem Qureshi and Imtiazi Qureshi fulfilled the duties of officiating referees, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all participants.
