Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate Scraps Substandard Work, Awaits Fix
Construction work at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate's pavilion has hit a snag due to concerns over substandard materials and workmanship. The contractor entrusted with the reconstruction project initially attempted to install substandard cement blocks in place of the existing iron frame structures providing shade to fans.
According to reports, eagle-eyed management officials
promptly identified the inferior quality of the installed blocks and ordered
their immediate removal. Further inspection revealed that the iron frames,
instead of being properly reinforced with billets, had simply been welded
together. This raised serious concerns about structural integrity and safety.
Two weeks have passed since the substandard work was
identified and rectified. However, instead of reinstalling the cement blocks
using proper materials and techniques, the contractor has resorted to a
questionable workaround. They are currently cutting the upper portion of the
iron frames and attempting to embed billets within them.
This latest development raises further questions about the
contractor's commitment to quality and adherence to safety standards. The
Directorate of Sports has yet to comment on the situation or clarify the future
course of action regarding the pavilion's shading structures.
