Gas Cut in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hostel Raises Questions Amid Unpaid Bills

In a recent development, the Provincial Sports Directorate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has disconnected the gas supply to a hostel due to non-payment of bills. The hostel has been without gas for a week, creating difficulties for its residents. Surprisingly, long-term employees residing in the hostel have managed to secure gas cylinders for personal use, enabling them to cook meals.

Sources from the Sports Directorate reveal that the electricity gas meter was removed a week ago due to an outstanding bill of Rs. 200,000 PKR, leading to the gas cutoff. However, the exact details of how the bill accumulated to such an amount remain unclear. The hostel residents, who live in separate rooms, declined to comment on the billing issue, citing it as a matter for account holders to address.

The hostel superintendent disclosed that around sixty thousand rupees have been deposited by account holders to cover the bills for October and November. He expressed hope that the gas supply would be restored soon.

Meanwhile, there are speculations among some Sports Directorate members that needle gas lines may be directed at night, although this information is yet to be verified. The situation underscores the importance of resolving billing discrepancies to ensure the smooth functioning of essential services in the hostel.
