"Provincial Sports Directorate Initiates Physical Tests for Coach Recruitment #SportsRecruitment"
The Provincial Sports Directorate has issued orders to commence the recruitment process for various sports coaches by conducting physical tests. These coaches, who have served in the Provincial Sports Directorate as daily wage employees for many years, found themselves in a challenging situation.
DG Khalid Mahmood had to dismiss some of them due to a lack
of funds, leaving them without employment for five months. Despite this
setback, a few of them continued to dedicate their time to training the
athletes on a daily basis.
Following a month's time, the Provincial Sports Directorate has made a decision, potentially paving the way for these coaches' reinstatement after successfully passing the physical tests. However, it's important to note that there are more than a hundred students under the tutelage of these coaches, pursuing training in various fields.
Over the past several months, coaches working within the
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate have been receiving a discretionary
salary of twenty-five thousand rupees, instead of the official salary of
thirty-two thousand rupees. This raises the question: why are these specific
coaches receiving a reduced payment?
The Labor Department has issued orders to increase the daily wage employees' salaries to thirty-two thousand rupees, yet the provincial sports directorate has continued to pay them twenty-five thousand rupees, resulting in a discrepancy of one thousand rupees. Curiously, the affected coaches have chosen to remain silent on this matter, fearing potential job loss and the possibility of not being rehired.
Various stakeholders in the sports community have commended the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate for introducing daily wage physical tests. They are urging for a similar examination to be administered to the permanently employed sports coaches to assess their fitness and competence.
This initiative is seen as a means to unveil the true
capabilities of individuals recruited to coaching positions, shedding light on
those who earned their roles through merit and those who secured positions
without proper evaluation.
According to individuals within the sports community, the prevailing situation in the provincial sports directorate indicates that daily wage coaches fulfill their roles out of necessity. These coaches have, over the years, contributed to the development of hundreds of players, both nationally and internationally, representing the province and Pakistan on global platforms.
Conversely, some permanently employed coaches are considered
in name only, failing to actively fulfill their duties and having trained only
a limited number of players, despite many years in their roles.
In light of this, sports enthusiasts are demanding that permanently employed coaches, whether hailing from affiliated districts or the provincial sports directorate, undergo evaluations that encompass their experience in their respective sports, including physical tests.
This step, they believe, will help distinguish the truly dedicated coaches from those who merely hold the title.
