KP Sports Directorate Under Fire for Neglecting National Games Heroes
PESHAWAR, Pakistan - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sports
Directorate is facing severe backlash for neglecting the provincial athletes
who showcased exceptional talent at the National Games held in Quetta in March
2023. While players from other provinces and departments have received
well-deserved rewards, the KP Sports Directorate, led by Director General
Khalid Mahmood, has failed to acknowledge the achievements of its athletes.
This blatant disregard has sparked outrage among the players, their families,
and the sporting community as a whole.
The KP Olympic Association President, Aqil Shah, has
expressed his deep disappointment over the sports directorate's inaction. He
stated that despite promises of prizes for the players, the sports associations
affiliated with KP have remained conspicuously silent on the issue. The glaring
absence of support for the players who clinched bronze, silver, and gold medals
in various events at the National Games is a stain on the reputation of the
sports directorate.
Furthermore, the plight extends to under-21 players who were
promised prize money and scholarships. These commitments have vanished into
thin air, leaving the aspiring athletes disillusioned and disheartened.
The question now looms large: Why has the KP Sports
Directorate turned a blind eye to its own athletes? The players, who brought
glory to the province, deserve more than silence and neglect. As the sports
community awaits answers, the hashtag #KPPlayersDeserveBetter is gaining
traction on social media, reflecting the growing frustration and disappointment
surrounding this issue.
It is high time for the relevant authorities to address the grievances of the players and take swift action to rectify this injustice. The sports community, both within KP and across the nation, is watching closely, demanding accountability for the neglect faced by the heroes of the National Games.
