Concerns Arise Over Indian Music Disturbing Women Players at New Gym Near Tariq Wadud Badminton Hall"
In the newly opened gym adjacent to the Tariq Wadud
Badminton Hall, female athletes have encountered challenges stemming from the
constant playing of Indian songs. This issue has left them in a perplexing
situation, as they are hesitant to voice their concerns to the management of
the Sports Directorate, not solely due to the blaring Indian music disrupting
their game, but also because they don't feel entirely secure.
Following the appointment of the new Director General,
Khalid Mehmood, at the Provincial Sports Directorate, the gym adjacent to the
Tariq Wadud Badminton Hall, managed by a WAPDA player, has attracted athletes
of various ages seeking training. However, female badminton players training in
the Wadud Badminton Hall are experiencing difficulties.
Several female players have come forward with complaints,
highlighting the fact that a private gym has been constructed on the grass area
designated for women players' exercises. Now, players from various sports use
the facility for training, and Indian songs are played incessantly. While
gym-goers may enjoy the music, it causes mental fatigue and, at times, makes it
challenging to focus on their game.
According to these female players, they are reluctant to
raise this concern due to potential repercussions, even though the gym has
received support from the Director General of Sports. They have appealed for
attention to the matter, suggesting that if the private gym continues to
operate under the supervision of the DG Sports, it should not encroach on spaces
designated for women's training. If there are no other alternatives, at the
very least, the playing of Indian songs should be discontinued to ensure a
comfortable environment for all players.
