Residential quarters within 50m buffer zone of football grounds illegal: Experts

Residential quarters have been built within the 50-meter buffer zone of the only football ground in Peshawar city, in violation of international regulations.

 

According to experts, the construction of residential quarters within the buffer zone is illegal and impedes the hosting of national-level competitions.

 

The experts had earlier informed the administration of the Provincial Sports Directorate about the illegality of the residential quarters, but no action was taken.

 

The construction of residential quarters within the buffer zone is a violation of international standards, which require a buffer zone of at least 50 meters between football grounds and residential areas.

 

The buffer zone is necessary to mitigate noise and other disturbances from football matches.

 

The experts have urged the authorities to take action to remove the residential quarters from the buffer zone.
