New Possibility Emerges for Construction of Sports Complex in Garhi Baloch, Peshawar

In a recent development, the idea of constructing a sports complex in Garhi Baloch, Peshawar has resurfaced, leading to a visit by the Sports Directorate team. The proposed complex is intended to be built on the land of the Public Health Engineering department, which was previously designated for water recycling purposes. Despite substantial investments made in the project back in 1990, it remained incomplete.

 

In 2020, DSO Peshawar Anwar Kamal Barki approached the Public Health Engineering Department with a proposal to establish a sports complex on the same land. Consequently, 80 kanals of the area were allocated to the Provincial Sports Directorate. However, the project was put on hold and lacked funding.

 

Now, after a hiatus of two and a half years, the new Director General Sports, Khalid Mehmood, has expressed his intent to proceed with the construction of a sports complex in Garhi Baloch. Director Development Salim Raza, along with a team, recently visited the site to assess the area and carried out demarcation with the assistance of the Patwari and Tehsildar.

Once included in the plans, the construction of the sports complex will commence, benefiting not only the residents of Charsadda Road but also those connected to Ring Road Peshawar.
