Peshawar ,  On August 14, 2022, Peshawar and Mardan witnessed a thrilling series of sports events, leaving a mixed impact on the participants and spectators. The provincial sports directorate spared no expense, investing one million rupees for a spirited competition in Peshawar, featuring both male and female athletes. Meanwhile, the adrenaline-pumping mixed martial arts tournament in Mardan saw a budget of two million rupees. The events also showcased exciting activities like vintage car displays, tanga races, rickshaw and tanga beauty contests, as well as exhibition matches in table tennis, kabaddi, and football.

 

The sports events successfully drew the attention of numerous athletes and enthusiastic fans, creating a vibrant atmosphere. However, an Afghan participant's involvement in the mixed martial arts competition held in Mardan raised concerns about eligibility and security protocols for the contestants. The lack of specific details regarding the fight outcomes adds to the uncertainty.

 

While the provincial sports directorate aimed to promote sports and foster community engagement through these events, the presence of the Afghan contestant and the insufficient information about the fights raise valid concerns about fairness, security, and transparency.
