Financial Crisis Delays Stipends for Under-21 Players, Possible Allocation in Next Financial Year

Peshawar - Under-21 players in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been waiting for over nine months to receive their stipends, which were initiated by the Sports Ministry.

Despite instructions to open Bank of Khyber accounts, funds have not been deposited since October 2022. According to sources within the sports department, the province is currently facing a severe financial crisis, making it challenging to disburse the stipend amount, which reaches up to six lakh rupees per month for under-21 students, within the current financial year. However, efforts will be made to allocate the remaining amount to the under-21 players in the following year.

A final decision regarding this matter has not yet been reached.

The delay in stipend disbursement has left the under-21 players in a state of uncertainty and financial strain. The sports department acknowledges the importance of these stipends in supporting young athletes, but the prevailing financial circumstances have posed significant obstacles. While the possibility of allocating funds in the next financial year provides some hope, a concrete resolution is yet to be confirmed.

The Sports Ministry, in collaboration with the sports department, remains committed to finding solutions and ensuring the welfare of under-21 players.

Efforts will continue to overcome the financial crisis and fulfill the stipend commitments in a timely manner.
