Peshawar - A controversy has emerged between hockey and football players regarding the utilization of the Civil Quarter Ground. These grounds fall under the purview of the provincial sports directorate and have been frequented by individuals associated with various sports for training purposes. However, on June 10, 2022, the former Director General of Sports, Khalid Khan, designated the ground exclusively for hockey players, prohibiting other sports.
Despite this, football and athletics players have recently
resumed using the Civil Quarter Ground for practice, leading to a dispute
between the hockey and football players.
The hockey players are not granting time to the football
players, maintaining that the ground is solely reserved for hockey. In
response, a committee has been formed to address the issue, and its primary
objective is to find a resolution that allows for equal usage of the grounds
for different sports.
Newly appointed DG Sports, Khalid Mahmood, has been informed
about the matter and will be overseeing the committee's efforts to resolve the
dispute between hockey and football players.
