Quetta National Games Witness Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Athletes Representing Pakistan Air Force, Flouting Pakistan Olympics Law

Quetta, 2023 In a surprising turn of events at the 34th National Games held in Quetta, athletes from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa represented the Pakistan Air Force instead of their province. The selection of these athletes took place during trials held in Kohat. To ensure an adequate number of participants in the athletics competitions, an additional athlete was brought in from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to join the Pakistan Air Force team.

During the manager's meeting, objections were raised regarding the participation of Osama, a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa athlete, on behalf of the Air Force. Navy and other departments pointed out that this violated the 365-day Olympic law of Pakistan. However, the Air Force provided evidence of Osama's recruitment on a one and a half year contract, resolving the objections. Consequently, the athlete from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa competed in the athletics competitions on behalf of the Pakistan Air Force.

This incident highlights the flouting of the Pakistan Olympics law and raises questions about the selection process and representation of athletes in national events.
