"Peshawar's Hayatabad Sports Complex Synthetic Court Faces Second Round of Damage"
#PeshawarSportsTrouble
Peshawar , In the latest setback, the recently constructed
synthetic badminton court at Hayatabad Sports Complex in Peshawar has once
again suffered damage. The substandard court, built under the 1,000 sports
project utilizing public tax money, has come to light following an inspection
report.
According to the report, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports
Directorate identified the issues and promptly contacted the contractor
responsible for the court's construction to address the problems. However,
instead of rectifying the defects, the contractor resorted to concealing the
shoddy workmanship. They cut out the relevant sections of the synthetic court
and injected air to eliminate the appearance of bubbles, subsequently
camouflaging the inferior work by applying tape of the same color.
Despite these attempts to mask the flaws, the synthetic
court has deteriorated for the second time within a year. Bubbles have
reappeared, and rusted areas have become visible, further highlighting the poor
quality of the court. It is worth noting that these projects, part of the 1,000
sports initiative, were overseen by under-training engineers recruited by the
sports directorate.
The incident raises concerns about the lack of quality
control and supervision within the 1,000 sports project, which aims to improve
sports infrastructure in the region. The recurrence of damage to the synthetic
court not only jeopardizes the sporting experience for athletes but also raises
questions about the utilization of public funds.
