Misfortune Strikes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Archers: Absence of Ground Hinders Performance, Says Female Coach Sara Khan

Quetta, May 28, 2023 - Sara Khan, the female coach of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressed her disappointment over the lack of a proper archery ground, which she believes has affected the performance of the archers. In a conversation with journalists after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's third-place finish in the team events at Beitum University, Coach Sara Khan highlighted the challenges faced by the archers in the kP region.

"Our archers could have achieved better results in the National Games if we had access to a suitable practice ground," said Coach Sara Khan. "It is unfortunate that even a city like Peshawar lacks open grounds for archery, where our players can train effectively."

Despite the limited resources and absence of a proper ground, Coach Sara Khan commended the archers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for securing bronze medals in the presence of formidable opponents such as departments. She also mentioned that in the 2019 National Games, their team had won bronze medals as well, and they are determined to make further improvements.

Responding to a question, Coach Sara Khan revealed that top 10 woman archer Mechael Syed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was unable to join the team due to an emergency. She acknowledged that their performance in the women's events was affected by her absence, while the male archers performed exceptionally well in comparison.

The archery community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hopes for more support and the establishment of proper archery facilities to enhance their performance in future competitions.
