PESHAWAR: The Director General (DG) of Sports in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa has issued a directive for the reconstruction of the court in Tariq
Wadud Badminton Hall, adhering to the Project Concept (PC) guidelines. This
comes after the synthetic court experienced bubbling issues for the fifth time
within a two-year period, despite the contractor's assurance of quality.
The DG Sports has now instructed the contractor to strictly
follow the PC-1 specifications and rectify the substandard work done on the
synthetic court in Tariq Wadud Badminton Hall. Despite a 10-year guarantee, the
court has experienced bubbling issues repeatedly over the past two years,
leading to concerns that were reported to the DG Sports. The construction of
the synthetic court in Tariq Wadud Badminton Hall, which was part of the larger
1000 sports project, needs to be completed according to the PC-1 guidelines.
Repair work has been rejected as the recurring bubbling
issues within the past two years have exposed the substandard quality of the synthetic
court. It is important to note that a synthetic badminton hall has been
constructed in the Hayatabad Sports Complex, which includes the Tariq Wadud
Badminton Hall within the Peshawar Sports Complex. However, both facilities
suffer from non-standard quality, as bubbles continue to form in the court.
The directive from the DG Sports aims to address the ongoing
issues and ensure that the reconstruction work on the synthetic court of Tariq
Wadud Badminton Hall meets the required standards, providing a satisfactory
playing environment for athletes and visitors.
