Dear Mr. Khalid Mahmood, Director General Sports,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I am writing to
discuss some important matters regarding the cricket academy under your
leadership as the Director General of Sports. As a senior cricketer, I believe
it is crucial to address these concerns in order to improve the academy and
ensure fair treatment for all players.
Firstly, I would like to bring to your attention the issues
with the installation of the specially imported "chaman" grass at the
cricket academy. Despite the presence of experts, the grass has failed to grow
in certain areas due to unsuitable soil conditions. I suggest using appropriate
mud and special soil during the installation process to rectify this issue.
Additionally, it is important to ensure timely payment of salaries to the daily
wage employees of the Provincial Sports Directorate.
Recently, the cricket academy coaches on daily wages were
prohibited from seeking other employment opportunities, which has put them in a
difficult financial situation. Given the economic challenges and rising
inflation, their monthly salary of twenty-five thousand rupees is insufficient
to sustain their households. Interestingly, individuals associated with the
cricket department of the Provincial Sports Directorate are running a private
academy while holding permanent government jobs. It is concerning that this
situation has not been questioned or investigated.
Furthermore, players attending the cricket academy are
burdened with additional charges on top of their monthly training fees. Some
individuals exploit this by accepting extra payments and making promises to groom
children into successful cricketers. This practice mainly affects senior
players, limiting opportunities for new players and creating unfair advantages.
Additionally, the distribution of special kits to academy students involves
separate contractors who receive payments. I request your intervention to
ensure transparent and reasonable distribution of kits within the cricket
academy.
To gain a better understanding of the situation, I encourage
you to review the manual recordings of the academy's surveillance cameras from
the past month. This will provide insights into the attendance and commitment
of daily wage cricket coaches compared to their permanent counterparts.
Lastly, I am deeply concerned about the bias and
mistreatment towards senior players within the academy. Despite the
achievements of many academy players representing our country at the
international level, senior players face challenges and unfair treatment. I
kindly request that you provide equal opportunities for senior players and take
appropriate action against those who exploit the cricket academy for personal
gain.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I believe that
your intervention and commitment to reform will lead to a more inclusive and
thriving cricket academy for all players.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Senior Cricketer
