Athletics and Swimming Teams Struggle with Performance Issues

Quetta, 2023 - The athletics and swimming teams of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been facing significant challenges, leading to a decline in their performance at the National Games. A shortage of athletics players has hindered full participation in various events, while the closure of the Adil Khan swimming pool in Peshawar for the past seven months has deprived swimmers of essential practice.

The delay in development work on the athletics ground has further exacerbated the situation, making it impossible for athletes to engage in proper training. It is worth noting that athletics and swimming encompass approximately sixty events, with a total of 180 medals at stake. Regrettably, the performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's athletics and swimming teams has been far from satisfactory.

The recent opening of the swimming pool at the Provincial Sports Directorate has provided a glimmer of hope for swimmers, as the summer season commences. However, concerns have arisen regarding the focus on membership rather than catering to the needs of the athletes. This shift in priorities may hinder the team's progress and affect their overall performance.

The sports community eagerly awaits a proactive approach from authorities to address these challenges and facilitate the growth and success of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's athletics and swimming teams.
