District Sports Officer of Peshawar anger for publishing news on chicken poaching and electricity theft

PESHAWAR: The District Sports Officer (DSO) of Peshawar has been accused of stealing electricity and taking donations to give permanent status to the government temporary mosque, as well as giving air-conditioned rooms to the imam, instead of growing trees and plants in the Shah Tahamas Football Stadium in Peshawar's Shahi Bagh.

According to reports, the DSO of Peshawar has applied to the local police station against a senior journalist of Peshawar for publishing news about chicken poaching and electricity theft. The DSO alleges that the District Sports Office is being defamed and has also accused the journalist of following him to his house twice in his car.

In response, the senior journalist has submitted a report to the Faqirabad police station and has requested legal action against the DSO under section 182 of the Pakistan Penal Code, otherwise he reserves the right to claim defamation. The journalist and blogger affiliated with Kikxnow's registered organization has informed the Khyber Union of Journalists, including the Peshawar Press Club, about the incident and has received assurances of support.

It should be noted that the same DSO of Peshawar had previously requested the arrest of a senior football player belonging to Chamkani Football Club in Faqirabad police station, later withdrew the application due to lack of evidence.

The Director General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to whom the District Sports Office Peshawar reports, has declined to comment on the matter. The District Sports Office Peshawar is a government organization that works for the promotion of sports at the Peshawar district level.
