PESHAWAR... The newly installed sprinklers along with the turf to be laid by the Pakistan Sports Board in the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium in Peshawar have been damaged within a month, although this turf has not yet been handed over to the Provincial Sports Directorate.

In the past few days, the contractor's personnel reached immediately and after removing and repairing the damaged sprinklers, installed them again in lala ayub sports complex Peshawar.

This is the only astro-turf for hockey in the provincial capital of Peshawar, where forty to fifty players train daily and it will be completed in the year 2022 in Pakistan.

The sports board was installed by Islamabad with the help of a Canadian-born contractor, whose turf, base, and the jungle near the goal post were questionable, but surprisingly, the provincial sports directorate Khyber silent on this matter.

 According to the inside sources of the Provincial Sports Directorate, which did not fall on the ears of the administration of Pakhtunkhwa and they did not even contact the PSB, through the same contractor, they also gave the contract for the construction of a new hockey turf in Swabi.

The same contractor had also written a letter to the engineering wing of the provincial sports directorate to take an international tour to check the turf so that the engineers could go and check the turf.
