PSB ready to handover hockey stadium to provincial sports directorate, DG sports confirmed

Peshawar.. The green signal has been given to the provincial sports directorate regarding the handing over of new hockey stadiums and new turf in Abbott Abad and Peshawar and the Pakistan Sports Board has also contacted them about handing over these grounds.

Yes, according to the sources of the Provincial Sports Directorate, in view of the objections and reservations about the hockey stadium in Abbott Abad, including the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium in Peshawar, the PSB administration has decided to handover the hockey stadium to get rid of it.

However, the Provincial Sports Directorate has not yet completed the preparations in this regard; the Directorate General of the Provincial Sports Directorate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khalid Khan has confirmed that the newly constructed hockey stadiums including Lala Ayub and Abbott Abad Hockey Stadium/

However, the technical committee has not been formed for this yet and the officers of this technical committee will consist of the Director General.

The sprinklers of the new hockey turf to be laid in a year in the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium in Peshawar have been repaired for the second time yesterday.

The Mechanic visited the grounds of the stadium and fixed the sprinklers, this is the second time the contractor has fixed the sprinklers. There is a complaint of standing water in different places of the newly laid base of the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium in Peshawar. Likewise, the base has settled down in some places, due to which the hockey players are facing problems.

On the side, there are complaints of wrinkles in the turf and even though the players have been playing for more than two months, these wrinkles have not disappeared. Similarly, the pipes used for water supply are made of plastic, which cannot withstand high water pressure, behind the goal post.

The nets to be installed are also very weak while there are several complaints regarding the sprinklers being damaged.

The contractor abandoned it after developing it and did not clear the reservations and now with the same reservations PSB wants to save its life by putting this hockey stadium in the cradle of the Provincial Sports Directorate.
