PSL matches in Pesh goes in doldrums, Nadeem Khan

 

Peshawar (kikxnow ) To host cricket matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) six additions in Peshawar went in Doldrums due to ongoing construction work in Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium.

Hayatabad Cricket Stadium is also being inspected whether the ground is able for PSL matches or not, Nadeem Khan, a Director of higher Performance said that during a visit to the Arbab Cricket Stadium.

He said that the construction work was being expedited to complete it before PSL matches six additions, but despite, it would be impossible within the short period of time, so it is maybe a bad news for cricket lovers to deprive them of watching ‘live’ matches in Peshawar owing to a lot construction work in the ground.

Former test cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq and Director General (DG) directorate of sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asfandyar Khan Khattak and other sports officials were also present on the occasion.

He said that the day was not far when international cricket matches would be played in Peshawar as that was in past.                

Mr Khan said that after completing construction work of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium, would surely help in boosting and promoting cricket not only in Peshawar but also in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The Director kept on saying that there was a lot of talent in Peshawar, which has already given the best players to the national team while Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is trying its level best to further promote the game and that’s why it is focusing on Under-13 and U-16 across the country.

We are trying to construct cricket stadiums in every city of the country aimed at promoting cricket because there is a lot talent across Pakistan, which needs to be emerged at grass-root level, he added.

He said, the government of KP had expressed its wish to hold the PSL matches here in Peshawar, but unfortunately, there was not possibility of construction of the stadium within short period of time.

Saqlain Mushtaq on the occasion said that the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium had a history as cricket legends like Imran Khan, Javed Mian Dad, Sachin Tendulkar and others played in this stadium. It is my pleasure that I started international cricket from the same ground.

He expressed his wish regarding completion of the stadium at once so that the international matches once again could revive. He maintained that Peshawar was a hub of talent about cricket and people take interest the game more than other cities.
